For some applications it is very interesting to design radiation detectors which follow a given shape and cover a large area. For this reason Multichannel SDDs have been developed.
They combine the advantages of the Silicon Drift Detector with
Due to their module character multiple SDDs are able to answer with a very flexible design to the specific demand of the customer.

For read out of the detector cells compact but discrete electronics is available as well as specifically developed integrated electronics comprising preamplifier and shaper/multiplexer modules (ASIC).
More details and examples of application of the Multichannel SDDs are described under Detectors and in the Literature.

The Multichannel SDDs are sold as chips or integrated detector modules.
For operation Multichannel SDDs are mounted onto a ceramic carrier board together with a Peltier element into an appropriate housing. Depending on the size and type of the SDD different formats of ceramic carriers and housings are available. We adapt our design to the customer's demands. More information is provided on request.
Prior to delivery the detector module is analysed in detail with regard to spectroscopic performance, temperature behaviour and stability.

As in all single SDDs the first amplification step (transistor) is integrated into the device. Accordingly the electronic readout of Multichannel SDDs is in agreement with that of Single SDDs.
The customer may use compact but discrete electronics which is avalilable or ask for integrated electronics comprising preamplifier and shaper/multiplexer modules (ASIC) which has been specifically developed.
